Well before you pull out your credit card, there is one fact that “detox” advocates are reluctant to tell you.

We’ve been doing green smoothies for about a year now and my 5 yo actually complains if we are out if spinach lol! One tip I’ve learned if you’ve never tried it is to buy over ripe bananas (grocery stores will often give a discount if you ask), peel and freeze them. I add them frozen to our smoothies and it eliminates the need for ice. Plus frozen bananas when blended take on a super smooth creamy texture that definitely enhances the smoothie. Sometimes for my daughter I just do milk, frozen banana and spinach…she calls it her milkshake :) Yum!!!

I have an autoimune disordef, they tell me not sure what one ???, I have sevear joint & muscle pain . Numbness in hsnds & feet . Now they are sending me to a doc for Sarcoidosis due to a blood test result. They have me on hydrocodone, lyrica an antidepresant as well as anxiety meds. Now I fear the hydrocodone not only has a hold on me but find soonafter taking I itch. I have several herniated disc. I was anorexic & bolimic for many years. Now my diet is poor. I have just stopped drinking diet soda ( 6-8 daily) Now water. I use to fast , how do I with these meds? I am working on getting off the Lyrica , was 300 mg daily , now 50 to 100 daily. Same gor the hydrocodone but it is hard as the pain stops me . I use to take asprin , 10 + daily . That helped but had a PE ( can’t figure that out ) so on xeralto aslrin is out
There is just as little evidence for detox programs. The only one to have been evaluated is via L. Ron Hubbard and the Church of Scientology, called the Hubbard Purification Rundown. It involves niacin supplements, saunas, exercise, polyunsaturated oil consumption, and vitamins, minerals and electrolytes. The protocol was used on a small group of firefighters after 9/11. With small sample sizes and no control groups, any critical evaluation of the results is impossible. Another evaluation with firefighters was equally limited by a lack of proper randomization and blinding. The same protocol was also used in healthy volunteers. Owing to a lack of blinding and placebo, the results are not credible, which is probably why the paper ended up published in Medical Hypotheses.
