The diet food that Southbeach diet sends is horrible! I even had my husband taste it to make sure it was not just me. It is has very little taste. The breakfast meals are the worst. I tried their bacon, onion and pepper egg scramble and I couldn’t even force it down. It was absolutely horrible!!! I have had Jenni Craig food and at least I like their food. Southbeach frozen and shelf food, not so much. What a waste of money! I found out today that even if you are not satisfied with their product they will not refund you nor will they accept returns. I can’t see how this company will even make it when their food tastes so bad. I spent over $300 for food I can’t even force myself to eat. VERY BAD FOOD! What a waste of money!!!

I was hoping to find independent views as to how healthy the prepared meals are. Your input about sodium levels was helpful, but do you have any other points to add? Despite the widespread use of weight reducing low carbohydrate diets for many years now, few reports to date have highlighted their association with clinically relevant ketoacidosis [6,7]. This either means that it is a rare complication, or that it has, so far, not been recognized as a possible complication of a very strict low carbohydrate diet. The hyperglycemic ketoacidosis could easily, in the past, have simply been passed off as a complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus or metabolic syndrome (the low carbohydrate diet being viewed as an irrelevancy). It could also be that some people are applying the diet in an ever increasingly more fanatical way. A final possibility is that the syndrome is brought about by some, as yet unknown, trigger in persons on a very low carbohydrate diet.
According to Paquette, the Military Diet does have one advantage over other weight loss plans: unlike other diets like Keto, which tend to eliminate entire food groups, the military diet includes a mix of protein, carbohydrates, and fats, albeit in tiny amounts. But he says the guidelines for the diet are simply too general to be considered healthy. For instance, breakfast on the first day simply lists "toast," without specifying whether it's whole-wheat or white.

The diet claims to be “one of the best natural diets.” They recommend that dieters avoid artificial sweeteners because they “aren’t good for you.” But then the site goes on to include foods like hot dogs and crackers in the daily meal plans. These are foods that are heavily processed and contain ingredients that have been associated with an increased risk of cancer and heart disease.
I’ve been on South Beach since July 28 and have lost 12 lbs. i don’t mind the food in fact I think it is better than Nutrisystem as there are lots of frozen foods. One of my problems is stomach issues and bad headaches. I feel like I have a hangover and those days are long gone! I have chewing tums all day. Perhaps I really need the bad food! LOL! My sugar has been great! My one really bad problem is the customer service! They are the very worst! They talk over you and I got into a screaming match with the hitch I was talking to. They obviously have never heard that the customer is always right. I think that they think they are always talking to someone who wants to cancel! Very rude. I just ordered my second auto ship and probably will cancel after I get it so I don’t have to deal with their consultants and cancellation policy! They seriously need training in dealing with their customers!!

You have noticed something about this diet since starting it on and off back in 2002, I can drink one 32oz of 0 calorie 0 sugar Powerade or Gatorade per 3 day diet, pick a day to drink it on and you will be just fine. Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day. Drinking one of these help craves those hunger cravings and to keep those electrolytes flowing through you. I drink one because I workout a lot so I have to have some type of electrolytes flowing through me.

Water weight can drop incredibly fast. Fat loss is much slower. Water weight is also easier to put back on if you are not exercising and not following a healthy diet. Again, if you are looking to lose weight quickly, but not sustain it, dropping water weight through the 3-day Military Diet may be a good option for you. Given the present day popularity of low-carbohydrate diet plans, healthcare providers should be aware of the apparent association between such diets and symptomatic ketoacidosis. In a patient with ketoacidosis suspected secondary to a low carbohydrate diet, all other causes of high anion gap acidosis should be ruled out before attributing the acidosis to the low carbohydrate diet. Although these laboratory tests were not performed in our patient, serum osmolal gap, lactic acid levels and salicylate levels, in addition to the tests which were performed in our patient, may be useful in ruling out other causes of acidosis.

Stress can raise blood pressure even if you are following a healthy DASH diet plan. Many times, the things that cause stress are outside of our control and we feel we cannot change it (boss at work, family situations, and our health worries). What we can change is how we let stress impact us. By learning to be more stress resilient, we can reduce the impacts of stress, such as high blood pressure and weight gain. Stress management techniques such as courses in meditation (which can be found online or in person) are a good option. Two types of mediation, transcendental meditation and mindfulness-based stress reduction, have been studied and proven to lower blood pressure as well as increase peace of mind and stress resiliency.

Any diet that's low in saturated fat is tough to follow, even with intensive dietary counseling.11 To address that issue, a study by Chiu and colleagues published in 2016 examined the effectiveness of a DASH dietary pattern that was much higher in both total fat (40% of calories vs 27% of calories) and saturated fat (14% of calories vs 8% of calories) and found that when the rest of the diet is followed, the benefits on blood pressure and blood lipids were the same. While the higher-fat diet was higher in total fat and saturated fat, and provided more full-fat dairy than the original DASH diet, it provided more vegetables, more nuts and legumes, less sugar, and less fruit and fruit juice. The higher-fat version might make it easier to follow and stick with over the long term. However, Heller says the study sample size was small and the study was of a short duration.
This diet was the biggest craze back in late 80s & 90's. I believe it was called "The Cleveland Clinic diet" & yes I remember having pickled beets w/ some of the dinners. I worked with a bunch of woman that were doing this diet & they claimed it was working for them. Being in my early 20s, my metabolism was so high & had a hard time gaining weight (of course everyone hated me) being 5'2- 115lbs, I decided to to give it a try to see if it did work. I did lose 4lbs. Now, 30 yrs later, 3 children & menopause has striken, & 50lbs heavier, I've decided it's time to try this again. I'm glad there are no beets in this one.That was the only thing I had a hard time with lol! I will post my results! Good luck everyone!
If you drink alcohol, drink moderately—no more than one drink a day if you’re a woman or two drinks a day if you’re a man. If you use insulin or diabetes medicines that increase the amount of insulin your body makes, alcohol can make your blood glucose level drop too low. This is especially true if you haven’t eaten in a while. It’s best to eat some food when you drink alcohol.
As you’re planning your exercise routine- try to keep it varied. Why? A mix of cardio and strength training is best, both for burning calories and building muscle. Unfortunately, many people only focus on cardio, which is a start, but including strength training will make you appear even slimmer as the pounds drop off. In addition, muscle burns more calories than fat when you’re at rest, which means that in the long-term you’ll burn even more calories.
