Thank you so much for creating such a convenient layout! The shopping list and substitute options are perfectly stated and organized and made starting this process so easy. I'm so excited to try it and hopefully see results! I've lost 25 pounds on normal diet and exercise (a combination of paleo and calorie counting), but I'm looking to change it up with slightly faster results. Thanks again!
Oven fried chicken: Toss 4 oz raw chicken breast in 1 Tbsp reduced-fat Italian dressing, coat with 2 Tbsp seasoned bread crumb and spray lightly with canola oil. Place on lightly oiled cookie sheet. Bake at 350ºF for 30 minutes or until browned and no longer pink inside. Serve with 3-bean salad (toss ½ c green beans, ¼  c garbanzo beans, ¼  c red beans, 2 Tbsp chopped onion and 2 Tbsp reduced-fat Italian dressing)
Two experimental diets were selected for the DASH study and compared with each other, and with a third: the control diet. The control diet was low in potassium, calcium, magnesium and fiber and featured a fat and protein profile so that the pattern was consistent with a “typical American diet at the time”.[2] The first experimental diet was higher in fruits and vegetables but otherwise similar to the control diet (a “fruits and vegetables diet” [9]), with the exception of fewer snacks and sweets. Magnesium and Potassium levels were close to the 75th percentile of U.S. consumption in the fruits-and-vegetables diet, which also featured a high fiber profile. The second experimental diet was high in fruits-and-vegetables and in low-fat dairy products, as well as lower in overall fat and saturated fat, with higher fiber and higher protein compared with the control diet—this diet has been called “the DASH Diet”.[6] The DASH diet (or combination diet) was rich in potassium, magnesium and calcium—a nutrient profile roughly equivalent with the 75th percentile of U.S. consumption. The combination or “DASH” diet was also high in whole grains, poultry, fish, and nuts while being lower in red meat content, sweets, and sugar-containing beverages.[10]
The calorie allotment is so low per day that I felt like I would pass out. Only 1000 calories per day for a woman in phase one of South Beach. I felt hungry pretty much ALL THE TIME! Sometimes just a little hungry and at the end of the day extremely hungry. Then I would microwave my little frozen meal – and little is was – I would eat it and then still feel miserably hungry. The food is not good. Just passable. Definitely not quality worth the price! The bars and shakes are not bad and if I could get them separately, I would use them as a meal replacement when I have a busy schedule. The bad food and lack of quantity of food is so misery making that I wish I’d never gotten rooked into this deal. At this point, I’m willing to PAY $125 for not having to endure another month of this awful food! Even in Phase 2 of South Beach, you are only allowed 1200 calories per day. How can you possibly exercise and carry on a life? I definitely DON’T recommend the South Beach Diet! Buy the book instead, try to incorporate the ideas in to a sensible plan and make sure you get enough healthy calories so that you don’t feel faint and you’ll lose weight just fine.
Restaurants and dinners with friends are doable on South Beach Diet, even in phase one – if you can stick to the guidelines. Skip the bread during phase one, for example, but enjoy a whole-grain roll in later phases. An all-phase-friendly tip: Order soup as a first course, then have a salad and choose lean protein for your entree. That way you'll already be feeling full by the time your main dish arrives, making you less likely to splurge on dessert. Grilled fish, turkey and filet mignon are all smart choices.
Reward successes and forgive slip-ups. Reward yourself with a nonfood treat for your accomplishments — rent a movie, purchase a book or get together with a friend. Everyone slips, especially when learning something new. Remember that changing your lifestyle is a long-term process. Find out what triggered your setback and then just pick up where you left off with the DASH diet.

The primary outcome of the DASH-Sodium study was systolic blood pressure at the end of the 30-day dietary intervention periods. The secondary outcome was diastolic blood pressure. The DASH-Sodium study found that reductions in sodium intake produced significantly lower systolic and diastolic blood pressures in both the control and DASH diets. Study results indicate that the quantity of dietary sodium in the control diet was twice as powerful in its effect on blood pressure as it was in the DASH diet. Importantly, the control diet sodium reductions from intermediate to low correlated with greater changes in systolic blood pressure than those same changes from high to intermediate (change equal to roughly 40 mmol per day, or 1 gram of sodium).[13]
After I purchased the South Beach Diet book I lost 25 pounds in 45 days. It surprised me too. My doc asked me if I was starving myself. I told him and another doc that i was just following the book's advice. Mostly eggs and meat to start. Got to get that protein. I also drank Ensure high protein drinks. The book came after two doctors recommended it. I'm way thru the first phase and now I can eat other foods and still eat out. I mostly have given up the bread and baked potatoes.

According to the Mayo Clinic, the DASH diet calls for eating lots of fresh veggies and fruits, but it requires consuming only a moderate amount of whole grains, as well as lean sources of protein and healthy fats, such as fish and nuts, respectively. (6) This distinguishes the DASH Diet from other popular plans, such as the Atkins diet and the ketogenic diet, or the high-fat, low-carb diet.
One serving in a category is called a "choice." A food choice has about the same amount of carbohydrates, protein, fat and calories — and the same effect on your blood glucose — as a serving of every other food in that same category. So, for example, you could choose to eat half of a large ear of corn or 1/3 cup of cooked pasta for one starch choice.
Olyphant and Barrymore star as suburbanite real estate agents Joel and Sheila, who stuck in a bit of a rut until Sheila starts undergoing some changes that leave her craving human flesh. But while Sheila is different from the woman Joel married, the two are committed to making their marriage work, even if that means committing various murders to sate Sheila’s new undead desires.

No. Alcoholic drinks are high in calories. Save your cocktail for when you’re off the diet, or on the 4 days off. Even when you’re not on the diet, if you’re interested in maintaining your weight, you should avoid certain types of alcohol. For example, steer clear of sugary alcoholic drinks such as long island iced teas and margaritas. The sugar adds in a lot of calories that will promote weight gain. Instead, go for a gin and tonic or vodka with soda water and lime. Red wine is also a great choice. You should also try to lay off beer if you’re hoping to maintain or lose weight. If you’re really craving a beer, go for a dark beer like Guinness which is rich in antioxidants.
As you’re planning your exercise routine- try to keep it varied. Why? A mix of cardio and strength training is best, both for burning calories and building muscle. Unfortunately, many people only focus on cardio, which is a start, but including strength training will make you appear even slimmer as the pounds drop off. In addition, muscle burns more calories than fat when you’re at rest, which means that in the long-term you’ll burn even more calories.

Even though her role as an undead suburban mom is meant to evoke laughs rather than shrieks, Barrymore is no stranger to horror films; some of her most notable earlier roles came in movies such as Firestarter, Cat’s Eye,* and Scream. At the panel, she recalled a particularly claustrophobic moment during the filming of Firestarter, when the then-9-year-old actress was wrapped in wax with two straws up her nose for breathing purposes.
I’ve been on South Beach since July 28 and have lost 12 lbs. i don’t mind the food in fact I think it is better than Nutrisystem as there are lots of frozen foods. One of my problems is stomach issues and bad headaches. I feel like I have a hangover and those days are long gone! I have chewing tums all day. Perhaps I really need the bad food! LOL! My sugar has been great! My one really bad problem is the customer service! They are the very worst! They talk over you and I got into a screaming match with the hitch I was talking to. They obviously have never heard that the customer is always right. I think that they think they are always talking to someone who wants to cancel! Very rude. I just ordered my second auto ship and probably will cancel after I get it so I don’t have to deal with their consultants and cancellation policy! They seriously need training in dealing with their customers!!
The South Beach Diet is now a home-delivery program broken into three phrases. There's no counting calories, fat grams, carbohydrates or anything else – the bulk of your food shows up at your door. You'll receive three meals a day, plus snacks if you’ve ordered the “tier 2” program. The diet lasts as long as you want – it depends on your weight-loss goal.
The diet doesn't offer balanced nutrition: some of the recommended foods are high in sodium, the reduced calorie intake is below the recommended allotment for both men and women, and you may not receive sufficient fiber, vitamins, and minerals during this three-day period. Prolonged application of the diet may weaken your organs and immunity as well as increase your risk of heart damage.
Sheila and Joel decide they need to kill the zombified Gary. Gary agrees, but asks them to bring the deed to his Michigan lake house to his niece Kayla. Sheila and Joel decide to honor Gary's last request. Eric finds a corpse in Ramona's bathtub and calls Abby, who sets out to rescue him. Sheila and Joel bring the deed to Kayla, but she still needs her car, which is with her ex-boyfriend, Boone. Sheila volunteers herself and Joel to retrieve the car. Abby bursts into Ramona's apartment but realizes that Eric and Ramona actually had sex. Ramona discloses that she is also deteriorating and Eric offers to help her. At Boone's house, Sheila and Joel discover that he is the "young, single Hitler" type that Sheila can eat guilt-free. While debating whether they should kill again impulsively, Boone's friend AJ shows up and offers them a raffle book for the Nazi softball team. Sheila buys one as a future kill reference. After Eric gives Ramona the serum to halt her deterioration, she admits that she was just using him for his ties to Abby's mother and they break up. Abby discovers Gary in the basement.
